What RAM Does

Rotarians Against Malaria PNG (RAM PNG) supports malaria prevention and response efforts across Papua New Guinea through practical, community-focused action and strong partnerships. We work to help protect families by supporting prevention initiatives, strengthening local coordination, and promoting public awareness on malaria prevention and treatment. Through transparent communication and shared learning, RAM PNG also provides trusted information and resources for communities, partners, and stakeholders.

Our Core Programs

RAM Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets Distribution

Long Lasting Insecticide Net (LLIN) Distribution

Rotarians Against Malaria coordinates the distribution of long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets across Papua New Guinea to help protect families from malaria. Since 2010, RAM has implemented LLIN distribution on a three-year cycle, reaching targeted villages throughout the country in partnership with provincial and district health authorities, church health services, and development partners. The program includes household surveys, verification, community awareness, and transparent net allocation based on family needs.

Home-based Malaria Management (HMM)

RAM also supports Home-based Malaria Management, a community-based program that brings malaria testing and treatment closer to people. Through trained Community Malaria Volunteers, the HMM program helps communities access early diagnosis and treatment, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. The program also strengthens supervision, reporting, and collaboration with provincial and national health authorities to improve malaria case management in Papua New Guinea.

RAM PSM

Procurement and Supply Management (PSM)

RAM supports the procurement and supply of essential malaria commodities across Papua New Guinea. Working with the National Department of Health and partners, RAM monitors stock levels, manages supply pipelines, and coordinates distribution of test kits and medicines. This ensures continuous availability of life-saving supplies and helps prevent stock shortages in health facilities nationwide.

What We Achieve

Through these combined efforts, RAM PNG helps strengthen community protection against malaria and supports better health outcomes across Papua New Guinea. By improving access to prevention tools, promoting practical education, and supporting coordinated response activities, communities are better equipped to reduce malaria risk, recognize symptoms early, and seek timely treatment. Over time, this contributes to stronger local capacity, improved protection for vulnerable groups, and measurable progress in reducing malaria’s impact.

Improved Access to Prevention Tools

By supporting the delivery and availability of prevention tools such as long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs), RAM PNG helps households and communities reduce exposure to mosquito bites and lower the risk of malaria transmission.

Stronger Community Knowledge

Through public awareness and education, RAM PNG helps communities understand how malaria spreads, how to prevent it, and what steps to take when symptoms appear supporting safer everyday practices and earlier treatment-seeking behavior.

Reduced Malaria Impact Over Time

By combining prevention support, education, and coordinated response, RAM PNG contributes to reducing the overall burden of malaria in affected communities helping improve wellbeing, reduce illness, and strengthen community resilience.
