World Malaria Day 2026 was successfully commemorated on April 24th, 2026 at St. Peter Chanel Primary School in Erima, Port Moresby, under the global theme “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.” The event brought together key partners including the National Department of Health (NDOH), National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA), Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM), World Health Organization PNG (WHO PNG), Papua New Guinea Institute Of Research (PNGIMR) and others. The celebration focused on educating students about malaria prevention through engaging school-based activities, and interactive learning. Students actively participated by taking pledges to seeking early treatment when unwell. The program also included an on-site malaria blood testing, providing early detection and reinforcing the importance of timely diagnosis on collective community action in eliminating malaria in Papua New Guinea.
